Philosophical counseling is different from traditional psychological counseling or psychotherapy as it involves philosophical mentoring or teaching. Not all of our problems have deep psychological roots; many of our problems are conceptual in nature as we seek to define our purpose in life. For instance, issues of morality, how we relate to others and how we define our role in society are directly related to issues of philosophical inquiry. Spiritual or religious counseling utilizes the principles of psychology, religion, and spiritual belief in working with individuals, couples and families to promote health and wellness.
